Live ReviewsThamel live rooms are booked out three months deep for the first time since 2019
Five venue managers say advance bookings have overtaken walk-up nights, and the pressure is now on sound crews rather than ticket sales.
The diary at every one of the five rooms we called this week is full into the middle of the season, and two of them have stopped taking enquiries altogether.
It is the kind of change that shows up in the paperwork long before it shows up in the room. Diaries, invoices and load-in sheets all moved first, and the audience only started noticing about a month later.
Five venue managers say advance bookings have overtaken walk-up nights, and the pressure is now on sound crews rather than ticket sales.
Everyone we spoke to described the same sequence in a slightly different order, which is usually the sign that something real is happening rather than one loud person having a good season.
The detail worth holding on to is small. Give the people doing the work twenty minutes they did not have before, and almost every other complaint on the list quietly disappears.
What it means for the rooms
None of this is settled. The next two months will decide whether it holds through a full season or turns out to have been one unusually good run of weekends.
If you are working in a room that has solved any part of this, we would like to hear about it. The desk is open, and the best reporting we do still starts with somebody sending us a load-in sheet.

Three months deep matches what we are seeing at the door. The hard part is finding engineers, not finding bands.

Would be good to see the same figures for Pokhara next month.
